All Windows Servers are backed up to the Sonnet Fusion 400 SATA enclosure on a nightly basis as follows:
(use Sonnettech Fusion 400, eSATA controller, and SATA II Hard Drives)

Choose a Backup Workstation to host the Fusion 400 SATA enclosure and acts as the centralized backup station.

Drives are shared on network for backup purposes as follows:

bak1 - Monday backup for all servers
bak2 - Tuesday backup for all servers
bak3 - Wednesday backup for all servers (This drive is labeled BAK3 and is also the swap drive used for alternating FRI1 and FRI2 backup drives)
bak4 - Thursday backup for all servers (Also has system state backups)

The rotation for FRI1 and FRI2 backups is as follows:
1st and 3rd FRI of every month is FRI1
2nd and 4th FRI of every month is FRI2
FRI1 and FRI2 are rotated into a Fireproof safe or offsite on a weekly basis.
Quarterly and Annual backups can be scheduled on a separate swap drive as necessary.

To rotate backup drives:

1) ON Backup Workstation - Make sure no explorer windows are open or files open on H: drive (BAK3), then pull lever and remove bottom drive in enclosure which is labeled either BAK3, FRI1, or FRI2.

2) Insert alternate drive according to rotation requirements and secure lever arm to closed position.

3) Open Disk Management utility from Computer Management

4) Reactivate the failed disk by right clicking and selecting reactivate. Assign drive letter H by right clicking in upper window after drive is reactivated.

5) Browse to H: drive (bak3) and verify that it is accessible.

Backup configuration is setup on each individual server using builtin Windows backup utility and is scheduled for automatic nightly full backups. The rotation is for 2 week backup using backup 1 files for week 1 and backup2 files for week 2. Every job is configured to overwrite and verify files.
Alternatively, backup to disk may be configured from the Backup Suite of your choice such as Veritas, Legato, etc...
